Swimming & Beaches
There's wonderful swimming all around Greenville. Closest to home, Red Cross Public Beach is just minutes from town — a calm, sandy shoreline with a roped-off swimming area, picnic tables, changing rooms, and free parking, making it an easy, family-friendly choice for a casual lake day.
Lily Bay State Park has two designated swim areas on Moosehead Lake — Sandy Beach, with a gentle entry that's great for kids, and Pebble Beach, clear and slightly deeper — both with picnic areas and restrooms (day-use fee applies).
The Mt. Kineo shoreline offers small pebble and sand pockets near the shuttle landing, while sheltered coves in Lily Bay and Spencer Bay are pleasant for a swim from shore. If you have a boat, dozens of small beaches dot the Moosehead shoreline. There are no lifeguards on the lake, so keep an eye on children and be mindful of boat traffic.
